Secluded Home at the End of the Street

2022.01.24 13:38 Elephantastic18 Secluded Home at the End of the Street

So I want to start this off by saying that this isn’t my personal story, but one of my old substitute teachers’. I first heard this around 4 or 5 years ago, but, because of my love for creepy things and its mystery I can’t help but remember it.
I forget his name, but let’s say.. Mr. News. Mr. News explained that when he was a kid (maybe 11 or 12, I’d say 1970s) he would deliver newspapers as a way to make simple money. He had a couple of houses that he would hit every trip but I remember this one was either a first-time or the family just didn’t get newspapers much. Anyway, he was biking up to this house that he described as having a HUGE front and back yard, and he walked up their yard a little to throw it closer to their actual deck. While he was walking, though, Mr. News heard a bone-chilling scream that he said sounded like someone being murdered in front of him. Even though he was terrified as a little boy, he continued walking until he heard another one, this time way louder. He looked around a little and eventually saw a small opening under their porch that created a mini hole, just big enough for a child to sit in and to see from the outside. He said there was a little kid sat in this hole, covered in dirt completely head-to-toe to the point where he wasn’t even sure what their gender was. By their size and voice, though, he was sure they were a child around his age. As this poor kid saw him, they let out their hand to reach for him and screamed one last time, with their voice apparently breaking a little and sounding super hoarse. Because he was a scared little kid, he ran off without helping them and never told anyone until years later. He said that, to this day, that was easily one of his biggest regrets in life.
I’m not sure what was going on, but my best bets are either parental abuse or kidnapping. Either way, it’s heartbreaking, and I really hope this kid ended up surviving.

2022.01.24 13:38 anxtea1 How is the University of Leeds for CS grads?

I've been looking into the MSc Advanced Computer Science program at the University and being an international applicant, I'm concerned about how the department is. I know it's not the most comprehensive criteria, but just looking at the university and department rankings (92 and 200-250 respectively), I'm unable to make an informed decision anyway. On a side note, kinda scared by the whole Brexit scene and their declining economy. Is it a good idea to study there right now? I would at least hope to work a few years there.

2022.01.24 13:38 JacobLuck Privacy permission on Private safe

I just installed the new update and was trying everything out, I then opened photos and accidentally declined the privacy permission on the new private safe feature.
It stated tho that it may not function properly now, and I was wondering, how can I change the permission and give it permission? I was looking around but I can't seem to find an option for it.

2022.01.24 13:38 SalesAR_ Case Study: Web 3.0 Innovation Agency pavdy poised to grow 500%
As a lead generation firm, SalesAR works with a myriad of industries. Due to this experience, and a very robust research team, even emerging markets aren’t beyond its capabilities. Lead generation is an industry that can face its own unique challenges; however, as with any industry, critical analysis and adaptability is what leads to the flexibility required to tackle any hurdles found on the path to success. While a 6Sigma methodology may seem a good fit to many industries, it is not necessarily applicable to every industry; for example, in regards to an industry that requires logical economic decisions by consumers during turbulent world events, the 6Sigma approach of perfect production is impossible to maintain without adding unnecessary strain to the chain that binds the organization providing such a service. Yet, by remaining flexible and adaptable, any industry can survive to meet, and subsequently overcome, any obstacles that may arise.
Client The firm known as pavdy positions itself as a Web 3.0 Innovation Agency that provides content marketing, among other critical IT and other provisional outstaffing solutions, from a pool of industry-leading native-speaking writers and other high-quality professionals. One of its core strengths in its fields of operation is its team of North American writers for content requiring fluent English. The content marketing provided by pavdy allows information technology development and service provider firms to increase website traffic with niche specific content. By providing these services with a healthy unit-economy, pavdy is able to provide firms with the tools they need to establish dominance on search engines, social media, and much more to grow their brands, services, clientele, and network.
Method The method in which leads are obtained is not entirely proprietary; however, it should be noted that specifics may be redacted due to the necessity of both brevity and organizational interests.
When onboarding a new client, it is necessary to ask guided questions to ensure that the entirety of their needs can be fulfilled. The most important onboarding questions are as follows:

After the client has provided sufficient information, SalesAR is able to begin searching for potential leads. Automation and tools are invaluable when attempting to obtain large amounts of data. In today’s business world, each organization employs some level of automation; SalesAR is no exception to this rule. By employing unique technologies to both search and validate contacts, SalesAR is able to generate thousands of leads, even for clients in the most specialized of fields. Albeit, regardless of the tools used or required, consistent communication with the client is the most important determining factor regarding the success rate of any lead-generating campaign.
Regardless of the services a firm provides, there are some questions which are fairly universal across each client encountered. These questions help the client, and the lead generation company. The most common questions asked by SalesAR clients are as follows:
These are all valid and responsible questions to ask of any provider of lead-generation services. The last one being the most pertinent: the range of services in which the client is paying for covers the entire process. It requires a team of specialists to arrange calls, seek and research the desired audience, manage communications, deeply understand the good and/or service being provided, as well as maintaining the highest levels of professionalism.
As a business, pavdy was a specific case, wherein establishing a proper understanding of the scope of its field of operations was something that required deep research. While it was ultimately achievable, it would not have been without a core team of highly-skilled research personnel and frequent open communication. Researchers within the scope of lead generation are typically relegated to researching the ICP’s a client is seeking as a customer; however, one must also be aware of the nuances of technologies prior to seeking potential leads. Web 3.0 and blockchain technologies both have prerequisite knowledge that must be obtained prior to understanding the scope and scale of the whole of the topic. Without a proper understanding, it is impossible to pitch a good or service to potential leads; therefore, it can be concluded that researchers are the very core of the lead generation industry.
According to the review by the CEO of pavdy on the independent platform, pavdy was seeking a more efficient method in which to directly reach decision makers within pavdy’s B2B ICPs. After an unsuccessful business relationship with another lead generation agency, pavdy sought out SalesAR after an encounter at a leadership conference. What’s interesting to note is that according to the CEO, any delays in the efficiency of lead generation by SalesAR were the result of delays on behalf of pavdy providing the necessary content to proceed. However, also stated in the same breath, SalesAR was very proactive in reminding pavdy of the required materials and improvised when needed. The resulting growth on pavdy’s side has paved the way to faster and even more efficient collaboration that is currently yielding a remarkably high ROI. Additionally, it is also stated that the workflow, as well as inter-organizational communication, has been without issue.
Results As a result of the aforementioned method, pavdy is receiving an average of 16 scheduled calls with leads per month. At its current rate of conversion, pavdy is experiencing an ROI of 43%. As a result of this ROI, pavdy has been able to expand its areas of operation to IT and SEO outstaffing for businesses seeking high-quality professionals in these spheres, as well as to begin its efforts into securing a foothold within the blockchain. In addition to this, pavdy has been able to expand its team of professionals and support staff enough to sufficiently scale by 500%; thereby it is poised in such a way as to grant itself massive flexibility for the near and far-future.
Additional Statistics Conclusions Any organization can struggle with lead-generation; however, it can ultimately be said that emerging-markets should not avoid lead generation services. The process can be achieved within a reasonable time frame so long as both the client and lead-generating service provider communicate clearly, understand the desired ICP’s and industry, as well as the limitations of their respective teams.

2022.01.24 13:38 pennylanding I spent 10 years working in the civil engineering field and above all else, absolutely loved working on proposals. I compiled 12 tips for those starting out...

Here is the full post:
I think these tips are great for those working on their first few proposals, but hopefully, those with more experience will find value as well!
Here is a short summary of the tips:

  1. “Better late than never” does not apply
  2. If you can afford to, visit the site in person
  3. Make a list, and check it twice (maybe three or four times actually)
  4. Study the evaluation criteria
  5. Do your homework
  6. Make a long story short
  7. A picture is worth 1000 words
  8. Make your weaknesses your strengths
  9. Are they buying what you are selling?
  10. Avoid overcomplicated or excessive language
  11. Get a buddy to check your work
  12. Look for opportunities to create a more competitive proposal

2022.01.24 13:38 Time_Traveling1839 Credit Cards month to month

Okay, so first off, Aspire is wonderful and I have so much appreciation for everyone who has taken the time and effort to make it the amazing resource it is.
Now, regarding how credit cards are handled in the spreadsheet, they really only work with the understanding that you're paying everything charged on them month to month. Which is a fantastic goal, however, let's be a bit realistic. That's not how many are able to actually use their credit cards. Right now, it moves money to the CC payment category no matter if there's actually money budgeted for that charge or not (say I charge $20 in groceries, but have no money budgeted for groceries, it still shows I have $20 available to repay that grocery charge on that card when really, I don't.) This also applies for interest charges. Sometimes it's just not financially feasible to pay that interest charge every single month. But even though I have it set as a non-reporting, hidden category - if I enter that interest charge on the transaction sheet, there it goes, right into that CC payment category, appearing as if that money is available for me to pay it. When again, really, I don't.
Is there any way to update the formulas on the spreadsheet to make this work more like YNAB does, where it ONLY moves money into that CC payment category IF there is money budgeted in the original category? I don't know enough about coding the formulas, especially on such a complex document, to try and make this happen on my own. I'd really appreciate any help or advice anybody can give.
Maybe someday I can have my finances where I can easily pay off every single charge I made plus any interest charges that might occur, but that day is not today. I know I can't be alone in this.
